You're telling me I can just breath into my upper back and move my scapula around to increase shoulder mobility and get rid of pain from squatting? Then I can lay on my back with my feet on a wall with a foam roller squeezed between my knees and increase my hip mobility for a better squat? These have worked better for me than any stretching and foam rolling I've done before ( still do some of that and there is some in the book too). I compete in powerlifting but I can still apply everything in this book. I haven`t had any knee or shoulder pain since I've implemented the exercises in this book, really great stuff!

I love this book. I keep it on my bed stand and read and re-read it all the time. I didn’t start Olympic lifting until I was 55-56, so there isn’t much chance I will ever compete, but I am so addicted to weightlifting now. I am not very strong, but working on good technique is something I can do, And the better my technique, the more I can lift (within reason). So, I study this book, work on the mobility exercises and try to perfect my technique. Since there is always room for improvement, I hope to keep improving. I just wish I had started this decades ago!!

Foundation, II. Screening & Assessment, and III. Building The Movements) offer a revolutionary approach to optimizing movement that is both "user friendly" and easy to understand for all readers. There's a LOT of information packed in the book, so It's going to be important to find the few things that can be immediately helpful to the athlete or coach.This is also a book that can greatly complement other Weightlifting books because there's nothing that even comes close to taking such a "deep dive" into the snatch and clean and jerk, in terms of assessing and optimizing movement patterns. You'll learn how to assessment movement problems and then get specific "corrective strategies" and ideas to implement.Quinn did a phenomenal job in bringing his great ideas and systems into a practical reference for the athlete and coach.There's no reader I can think of that wouldn't benefit by using this resource to become a more "skilled mover" as it pertains to weightlifting.And, the hundreds of pictures in this book are also amazing to reinforce the assessments, techniques, and concepts covered.I'm excited to see the success of this resource because it's a tremendous guide you'll be able to use and apply to make a difference in movement and performance - for the weightlifter and beyond.Outstanding work and an essential, innovative Weightlifting contribution!

Great book for coaches and trainers. Covers a variety of methods of assessing a potential athlete’s abilities and/or limitations making it easier for the coach/trainer to customize training plans to that particular athlete.

This book is awesome! We use it for all new athletes in my gym, and I use it for myself as well! I’m a PT and a weightlifter and I find the breakdown of movement to be so well articulated and easy to use/explain to others. Saves a lot of wasted time on the foam roller!

Without a doubt a necessary book for every coach in the S&C Industry.This book first acts as a source that describes the foundation of efficient movement patterns as they relate to the Snatch and Clean & Jerk.Then, it acts as a guide to help you assess these movement patterns in your own athletes.From there, it offers you specific strategies to help correct those movement patterns in a way that is easy to implement in any setting.

This book is a great collection since I can always reference back to it when I feel I need to optimize a position for myself or a team mate. There are a few sections which refer to the importance of breathing and bracing your core during the entire lifts which were extremely helpful. I used to think I needed more shoulder flexibility for the snatch but after reading this I realized I was fine in that area and needed to focus on other areas for a stable bottom position. Great read with plenty of visuals.

As a Strength & Conditioning Coach this book is a great tool for aiding in not only Olympic Weightlifting positioning and training but it gives the coach or practitioner many potential prehab/rehab tools to use in aiding for weight training. Quinn explains things in both a fundamental manner and in a more advanced way centered for a coach/practitioner audience. The books contents are centered around Olympic weightlifting movements and training methods and should be taken with that in mind.
