About the Author
E. Nesbit was a prolific English author, editor, and poet. These are beautifully retold tales which children can enjoy. We use them in our Charlotte Mason style homeschool program.
What an awesome way to introduce Shakespeare to a child (and adult... myself!). I would recommend this for a late elementary age child to read on their own. My 16 year old daughter very much enjoyed reading Romeo and Juliet aloud to me while I made dinner. I did purchase it, though, to read aloud to my 5 year old as an introduction to beautiful words.
This book is an excellent way to introduce children or adults to the most popular plays by Shakespeare. It is a collection of 20 retellings. It allows you to understand the story without the challenging spelling and vocabulary of the original plays. This edition also contains a pronunciation guide and a famous quotations section. E. Nesbit is a delightful story teller. My children love to be read these stories.
